AgriRisk is delivering its first email edition of AgriNews.

We will continue to bring you a regular update from the insurance market and how it could affect you, keep you informed of new products that may be of interest as well as general news about our business.

As summer draws to a close we have seen our rural clients impacted by a series of harsh weather extremes.  Record heat across the country in January created chaos for many of our forestry clients whose plantations were threatened or impacted by fire.  Along the north eastern seaboard record rainfall resulting from Cyclone Oswald impacted on many horticultural crops and again resulted in flooding.

Further west the rainfall provided welcome relief to record temperatures and has topped up soil moisture profiles that should at least underpin a solid start to the winter cereal cropping period.  So again it’s a case of mixed fortunes for the rural sector, and the regional communities they underpin.

This issue we take a look at what’s happening in the insurance market, try to demystify the world of weather derivatives and introduce one of our Toowoomba team members.  We always welcome feedback, so drop me a line if you have any comments on our business or the new newsletter format.
